24 Star Cherry Jones Hospitalized

It's been a bad week, health-wise, for TV stars. First, Patrick Swayze is hospitalized for pneumonia; then Mariska Hargitay suffers a collapsed lung; followed by Howie Mandel's irregular heartbeat.

And now the latest small-screen star to fall ill is 24's Cherry Jones, who plays President Alison Taylor, the country's first female commander-in-chief on the hit Fox show.

Cherry, 52, had been slated to appear at a press conference Tuesday morning to promote the new season of 24, but producer Howard Gordon announced that the actress had just undergone surgery to have her gallbladder removed. "But she's okay," he added.

This was news even to Cherry's own co-star Jon Voight, who said he planned on giving her a call.

Cholecystectomy, the surgery to remove the gallbladder is quite common and usually only requires the patient to stay in the hospital for a single day. In some cases, patients are sent home to recuperate only hours after going under the knife.
