Quote :
24's Dana Walsh: "Who Cares If There's A Crisis On? What About My Needs?"

Things continued to get nasty on 24 last night: Tens of thousands of Manhattan residents were in danger of perishing in a dirty bomb attack. Jack Bauer was facing off against a young suicide bomber at a hospital. A major international treaty hung in the balance.

But even more action unfolded in 24's show-within-a-show, a Lifetime Original Movie entitled From Trailer to Treachery: The Dana Walsh Story. Against the backdrop of international menace, Dana and Cole Ortiz attempted to conceal the deaths of Dana's blackmailers (her ex-boyfriend Kevin and his partner-in-crime, Nick).

First they dumped Kevin; his body bubbled toward the bottom in the New York night. Mission accomplished! Defiantly stoic, Cole declared, “Let’s get the other body and get cleaned up before we head back to CTU.” But Dana seemed to think it was the perfect time for a relationship conversation: “Cole, what about us?”

Speaking for the nation, if not for all of humanity—not to mention the 24 fans baffled by this nonsensical subplot—Cole responded with the immortal wisdom uttered by Jeff Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High>: “I don’t know.”

I don’t know, either. The overall direction of this season of 24 seems fine so far, maybe a bit familiar—but with enough surprises to keep things moving. That said, the initial wave of bad guys—Davros, Farhad, Bazhaev, Vladimir—have all been either killed or neutralized. And Dana’s secret past held some early promise, but she's made so many bad decisions since Kevin first showed up that it's become harder and harder to believe she could have ever managed to craft a new identity and join CTU.

But right now we’re being forced to confront some even more immediate plausibility issues. CTU is in crisis mode and somehow Dana and Cole have been missing in action for nearly two hours. What kind of shop is Hastings operating? This isn’t Dunder Mifflin, but even Michael Scott runs a tighter ship. Arlo’s suspicions notwithstanding, when Jim and Pam go out for a latte they face more scrutiny than Dana and Cole did.

I’m looking forward to their explanation when they get back to the office, possibly wearing new clothes because they've been dumping bodies in a swamp. What can they say? We were working at home? We got a Tweet that the new food truck with the to-die-for soy ginger tacos was parked by the bridge? We had some comp time coming?

Last week, when Dana decided to pack heat and go after Kevin and his partner, it looked like she would earn a bit of redemption for herself and women-who've-been-wronged-by-jerky-ex-boyfriends everywhere. Instead, it was Cole who took care of things—by killing Nick, an act I believe falls under the psychological heading of "enabling."

Curious, too, was Dana’s reaction. Talk all you want about how Kevin alerted them to Nick’s attack. But after all he had put Dana through, it seemed odd that she would gaze down upon him, teary-eyed, as if he was some kind of fallen angel and not a blackmailing, abusive SOB who'd threatened to destroy her life.

Dana, here’s a bit of perspective. Sure, he was that into you. For $120,000 to be exact.

'24' Recap: Wall-to-wall action, eh Dana?

Given last week’s terrific episode, I half-expected the action to slow down tonight – kind of like a re-setting of the proverbial pins so the producers could begin the final march into the (series? season?) finale. Wrong there, sister! Not only were we treated to an overdue heaping of Chloe, but we got the kind of bitchin’ shoot-out I haven’t seen since that Colombian ambush scene in Clear and Present Danger. Plus, more Renee! And Bill Prady! And another CTU infiltrator! Isn’t this the 57th mole in the show’s eight-year history? Or is it the 58th? Gee, they have the hardest time keeping those buggers out. But more on that later.

A mystery, those electromagnetic pulse bombs. Here I’m thinking the explosion would take out a lot more than central communication and aerial surveillance and yet remarkably, most of the walls and doors remained intact. And yet they did little to keep out a Grade A jerk like Frank Haynam, an NSA fixer who demanded that his team be left alone to repair what the EMP took out. Why the hostility, dude? It’s not like Hastings detonated the bomb himself, and yet Haynam had just the right amount of edge to make me think he wasn’t playing for our team. Another mole, maybe? His animosity toward Chloe only heightened my suspicions — why can’t she stay in the server room, bro? — but at least he helped to tee up a pretty wicked set of one-liners from our lippy girl: “I think he’s a raging egomaniac.” …”And maybe the moon will fall from the sky” ….. “You’re probably an OK guy when you’re not at work” …”I’m not good with praise.” Couple those with a series of awesome close-up shots of the superb Mary Lynn Rajskub and we finally — finally! — got the Chloe we deserve. Haynam didn’t turn out to be the double-crosser that I thought; just another bureaucratic asshat to keep the action moving forward. But I love how it gave Chloe a chance to prove her mettle while continuing to demonstrate how she will always have Jack’s back — they’re not going to make a 24 movie without Chloe, right?

Thanks to Chloe’s crack work with the trunk line, CTU was quickly back online and able to track Jack and Cole, who spent most of the episode in a nasty gunfight with snipers while Samir and Tarin loaded the nuclear rods on a raft and began crossing the river. But even before she repaired central com, Chloe made the snap decision to involve Renee, who seemed to have returned her hair to a far less-militant shade and was now looking pretty fresh and relaxed for a gal who just murdered a man and was in danger of going to the slammer. Go find Jack, you say? I’m out the door! That ridiculous shot of her grimacing while handling her gun made me howl, but at least she redeemed herself by taking out the two snipers and ending the gunfight. So… does this mean the ol’ girl is back from crazy town? Will we now be treated to Renee, the ever-reliable law dog? No complaints from this camp, mind you; I prefer this (fresh and pretty!) version better.

It took a while before we discovered that Bill Prady survived the bomb unscathed — only to have Dana tell him that the the EMP destroyed the video archives so there was no way he could see how Kevin pulled off that police locker robbery. Thanks to some of you doubters, I scoured these scenes for signs that Bill may not be the probation guy he purported to be. But when he came back to ask for Hastings, I knew this dude was on the up-and-up. Dana would have to come clean on her crimes now, but when she stalked that shadowy hallway with her sour face, I knew that Bill wasn’t long for this world. Indeed, the strangulation bit wasn’t nearly as surprising as the presence of a removable wall panel that made it easy to stash Bill’s corpse — or the fact that Dana would turn out to be this season’s requisite mole. I didn’t see that one coming, but I’m not exactly thrilled by the choice. More like confused, actually.

So… we’re meant to believe that somewhere along the line, when Kevin’s Jenny was maybe trying to go legit by taking computer classes at her local JC, this rogue faction of the IRK recruited her to infiltrate CTU so she could someday help them detonate the nuclear rods in New York City? And the background checks that she was no doubt required to undergo managed to miss the fact that she was once a menace to society and a known accomplice to a bunch of Middle Eastern baddos? I’m supposed to believe all of that?

What am I saying? I suppose many of you are pretty damn psyched about this new turn of events. But then again, maybe the moon will fall from the sky. I’ll let you take it from here: Do you have a beef with Dana the mole? What did you think about the flashy gunfight? And how much were you digging on Chloe?

'24': Mary-Lynn Rajskub, Just a Working Mom, Onscreen and Off

Today's cuppa: World Market House Blend coffee

On "24," airing Mondays on Fox -- Is this the last season? Is the show hopping to NBC? Is it riding into the sunset or onto the big screen? As of this instant, the answers are, "Don't know," "Don't know," "Don't know" and "Maybe." We now return to your regularly scheduled blog post, already in progress -- Mary-Lynn Rajskub plays CTU analyst Chloe O'Brian, who balances a plethora of computer skills with a dearth of social skills.

But Chloe does have a love life, and right now, that centers around husband Morris and their 4-year-old child. Since Morris has lost his job, Chloe has come back to the Counter Terrorist Unit -- this time in New York City instead of Los Angeles -- and is once again proving indispensable to saving the world.

In real life, Rajksub also has a husband and a son, Valentine, whom she sometimes brings to set.

Asked if she's enjoying motherhood, Rajskub says, "I am. I had a really hard time with it the first three or four months. I was not enjoying it at all. It's a huge life adjustment. I got a one-woman show out of that period of time, a good stand-up -- half stand-up/half-storytelling one-woman show about not liking my baby. It's pretty funny."

After all, while a parent may love the child, the actual parenting thing may be less than a complete joy at times, especially during the early days.

"I'm glad I wrote stuff down during that period of time,"
Rajskub says, "because all the cliches are true. Everybody says, 'It gets better, it gets better.' And I remember being so angry, like, 'F--k you, this sucks.' And it really goes, it gets better and better.

"Now it's to the point where I'm like, 'I love him. He's the greatest.' But to know how hard it is, and to have to admit to yourself what you're not supposed to say, (which is) that this stinks."

As for Chloe's stressful day, Rajksub says, "As the sh-t hits the fan more and more, my character completely breaks out of everything ... I'm trying to say it without spoiling. I'm put in a position to act differently than we've ever seen before.

"Towards the end of the season, this is probably the most major turn that my character's taken, but you won't see it until towards the end of the season. This is like, there's no going back.

"I don't mean to be so dramatic. I don't turn into an evil monster or anything. It's believable. I don't think, after all these years, that I would become a mole, but I'm forced to make some pretty big choices."

Source: blgo.zap2it.com

And two days ago on her Twitter page she tweeted: "We're shooting ep 23 & 24. I can't believe the sh!&$ that's going down. Especially with my character. It's off the chain!" Source

24 Season 8 finale date and two-hour episode announced

The back-to-back episode of 24 this year is scheduled for Monday April 5th, 2010 (8:00PM-10:00PM). Typically these have occurred earlier around the mid-season point, but this one will be a few episodes later.

Cherry Jones said last month that episodes 15, 16, and 17 “are three of the most exciting [episodes] of the entire eight years of 24. I couldn’t catch my breath reading them, they were just thrilling. I didn’t know how I was going to wait until I got the next script to see what happened!”

The 24 Season 8 finale (also a two-hour event as usual) is scheduled for May 24th, 2010 (8:00PM-10:00PM). Note how it’s listed as a “season” finale and not a series finale, so let’s hope that is a good sign.
