The actor Kiefer Sutherland revealed he found the seven weeks in prison difficult.
British-born Canadian actor Kiefer Sutherland has spoken for the first time about his jail sentence during early September last year for driving under the influence (DUI).
The actor revealed he found the seven weeks in prison difficult. “The lights never go out. You can’t cover anything. You can’t even put your head under a blanket.
All the cells have cameras in them.” According to a popular website, the actor also said something he did appreciate about life in prison was the time off from his smoking habit. “My drinking was not a daily thing, so it wasn’t an issue. And, oddly enough, neither was the smoking. I was very glad to know that I could quit. And one day soon I will,” he said.
However, one thing that didn’t work out for Sutherland was a cell of his own.“I was told I’d have my own cell. But I didn’t and for the first three weeks I had a cell mate. He got out but not for long. He came back in pretty quick.”
Sutherland’s arrest last year was his second time since another incident in 2004, after failing a field sobriety test.
He tested over the state’s legal blood alcohol limit and was later released on $25,000 bail. Sutherland pleaded no bail to the DUI charge and was sentenced to 48 days in jail. | |
